Sometimes — often, even — texture is as important to an image as color. This photo has texture in spades, from the twists and braids of the rope itself to the loops and knots where they come together. I love the way that even though these ropes are almost all various shades of blue and grey, this picture’s color story is much more complex. There are some wildly vibrant colors peeking through and adding depth and interest, and I can’t get enough of it!
This is a good reminder to view everything — your art, your writing, your home decor, whatever — as a whole. Step back and see what story the entire “image” is telling you. If it isn’t reading the way you want it to, take the opportunity to change it. Make it yours.
