June 3, 2010 separator Life

via boygirlparty

I made the list back in November, and I’ve barely updated it since then! At the suggestion of a real-life amiga, I decided to go back in and update everything to hold myself to it and show my progress. The highlighted ones are in progress, and the crossed out ones are, well, crossed off the list, done, finito!

I highly recommend you all make your own lists. It’s a fun way to make goals and actually accomplish them. Just for the record, I turn 25 on December 3, 2010!

    1. I haven’t tried it myself, but I read in a vegan cookbook that putting extra starch (like potato starch, which you can get in powdered form) on sweet potato fries will help them crisp up. I imagine squash fries (which sound delicious – I’ll have to try those) would work the same way.

    2. I love a mint juliep too. I grew up and currently live in KY and the KY Derby. I never had a mint juliep until this past year’s KY Derby since I am now 21. So I know what you mean. Are you near by to visit all those places?

Also I love this idea. I really want to make one myself.

    3. Thanks for all the comments and advice, guys!

I tried the butternut squash tricks this weekend, but they were still muy soggy! Sad day!

    4. Just note you don’t get drunk off single malt scotch, it’s for the flavor. Seriously. It’d be way too expensive.

    5. forget bourbon. try single malt scotch- but you have to have a connoisseur show you the ropes. I don’t really drink, and never liked straight liquor, but my father-in-law sold me.

    6. This is a great list and you’re definitely making progress. Since I’m quite a ways past 25 I guess I have to call mine “bucket list.” I know I did one on my list recently – visit Hawaii. I took enough pictures to keep and to sell to last the rest of my life!

    7. I LOVE your list!! What a great idea! I just realized that if I created a list it would be called “100 things to do before I turn 30″…YIKES!

    8. Okay, for the butternut squash fries: this works on sweet potatoes, but I’ve never made butternut squash fries so I can’t be certain but it might work perfectly and is worth a shot.
Preheat oven to 450F. Slice squash into fries (triangular wedges work best.) Line a cookie sheet with foil, shiny side down, and lay the fries out over it with a little space between them (if they’re wedges, put the pointy side UP). Brush them with olive oil and sprinkle some salt over them; put them in the oven and roast for 20 minutes. Remove from oven, flip fries on their side, return to oven and roast for 10 more minutes. Remove again and raise the heat to 500F. Once it reaches 500, brush them with oil again and put them back in the oven. After about 5 minutes, take them out and flip them all over (quickly, if possible). After 5-10 more minutes, they should be done and perfectly crispy.

      Good luck!

    9. what a great idea! I might have to copy this one. Everyone should have a life’s to do list.

    10. great list!
I was thinking about something like that…a 40 before 40 maybe. I think the higher the age, the lower the number…I don’t know if I could find 100 things anymore 😛

    11. love the list! Have you ever tried to check out dayzeroproject.com? It’s a great site for people that like lsits and goals.

    12. This one impresses me: #33 Actually use all my bubble baths and pretty lotions.

      hehehe

    13. I might have an idea for the squash…at least it works with potatoes. Microwave the fries for a couple minutes first, not enough to cook them through, I just put them on a plate and zap for 2 minutes at a time until they start to soften and THEN put them in the hot oven to finish cooking. They got brown and crispy without burning, I’d call that a win. 😉

    14. wow, you’ve gotten a lot accomplished! that is one impressive list. 😛

      also, BELIZE?! Jealous!
