You’ve all “met” Katie before. She’s the mastermind and creative queen behind the freebies over here at leShrimp. She’s also become a close real-life friend of mine since we first got in touch through our blogs (Yeah – we’re like the friends version of Match.com…), and I can’t tell you enough how creative, inspiring, and constantly-evolving Katie and her blog are! Plus, she’s sort of a DIY genius. Seriously. She planned her entire wedding faster than most people plan a dinner-and-a-movie night. Read on for the details (and her photos!).
What’s one of the most interesting things about you? Well, ladies, I did recently plan my wedding reception in “6 minutes” (as Lindsay so eloquently put it). It was actually 5 weeks from engagement to wedding date and everything was DIY and my extended family even made the food. It was all lovely and wonderful.
What’s your favorite quote?“…a man’s suffering is similar to the behavior of gas. If a certain quantity of gas is pumped into an empty chamber, it will fill the chamber completely and evenly, no matter how big the chamber. Thus suffering completely fills the human soul and conscious mind, no matter whether the suffering is great or little. Therefore the ‘size’ of human suffering is absolutely relative.”

When did you start your blog? May 2009. Cuh-razy. Longer than I thought.
What do you do when you hit a writer’s block? I rarely hit a writer’s block. It’s usually a creativity block around DIY projects and such. I am still working on how to get past that in a timely manner. My last block was for several months. It’s difficult to fuel crafty creativity when you have a day job in a totally different field.
What is your favorite thing to make or do? Hmm…I like most crafty things. I especially like things involving pretty paper.
Why should we read your blog? If you like DIY, crafts and design, then you might wanna check it out. I like to think you will find some inspiration to get crafty.
What inspires your creativity? Mostly the necessity born from post-graduate poverty. 😉 And other blogs, trends, brainstorming sessions, trial and error, and finally, the occasional moment when two things just happen to be next to each other and I think, “Oh yeah, I should put those together.”
What is your favorite blog? I really like Olive Bites. She’s entertaining and informative. And Aunt Peaches – because she is just ridiculous and HIL.AR.I.OUS.
Great interview! I wish my wedding could be “DIY” but I would be doing everything by myself b/c no one else would help lol
