I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for almost 10 years and still hadn’t posted a slime recipe until today!

I wanted to make something that was equal parts fun and festive, and I think I found it with this hot cocoa floam. 

This is the perfect winter break project to keep the kids busy for a bit. You can mix it up together and then let them have a blast squishing and smooshing. It would also be a super cute children’s Christmas gift idea in little plastic jars. 

My Favorite Things About This Hot Chocolate Slime Recipe

1. Marshmallows, you guys. MARSHMALLOWS! Yeah, they’re foam, but don’t they just make the slime?!
2. The crunch is pretty much irresistible. Wait till the marshmallows float back up to the top, and squish them around for a really satisfying sound and texture. 
3. Actual hot cocoa scent finishes it off perfectly. Just make sure your kids don’t eat it because it totally smells good enough to munch on!

DIY Hot Cocoa Crunchy Slime Recipe 

Supplies

• 5 ounces white glue
• 9 ounces water
• 1/4 teaspoon borax
• Brown gel food coloring
• Chocolate mint fragrance oil
• White foam balls
• Plastic screw-top jars

How to Make My Hot Cocoa Slime Recipe

1. Use a fork to mix together five ounces of white glue and five ounces of water in a bowl. 

2. Add about 10 drops of chocolate mint fragrance oil and enough brown gel food coloring to achieve a hot chocolate color. Stir until all the color is evenly mixed together. 

3. Dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of borax powder in four ounces of warm water. 

4. Pour about half the borax solution over the glue mixture, and stir it with the fork. It should start to stick together and clump up a bit. 

5. Continue adding the borax solution a little at a time, stirring constantly, until it’s all sticking together in one big blob.

6. Use your hands to knead the slime until it’s smooth and no longer sticky. You may need to add a bit more borax solution to get rid of stickiness. I like to dip my fingers into the borax solution and then knead it into the slime. 

7. Pour some foam balls onto the finished slime, and knead them in with your hands. 

8. Separate the slime into plastic jars or some other airtight container for storage. As the slime sits, the foam balls will begin to float up to the top, just like a mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows!
