Last month I hosted the second installment of #DistrictCrafterhours, and we had such a great time! I gathered a handful of local creatives at West Elm here in DC, and we got to catch up and spend a fun evening together without the hustle and bustle of so many events we run in to each other at. Read on for lots of pics and a little summary of our crafty shindig.
P.S. All photos are by the adorable Alicia Bruce of Love Knot Photo for Shrimp Salad Circus, and I can’t thank her enough for being there to show us the ways of knitting and capture the moment!
One of my favorite parts was that everybody brought their favorite homemade cookies and a recipe to share with the group. Each recipe card was so unique and personal! I did Nutella-stuffed sugar cookies and painted little Nutella jars on each card.
We Are Knitters was kind enough to fuel our creativity with their gorgeous knitting kits. I haven’t knitted in ages (since college I think…), so I found it really helpful to re-learn on giant needles and big, fat yarn!
It’s always fun getting to play behind the scenes at West Elm, and they’re so generous with their space! This guy was hilarious (obviously, judging by that awful “laughing” face I’m making), wanting to know what you have to do to get to hang out snacking, drinking, and crafting in the middle of West Elm…
Oh, and then we “styled” baby Naomi, because furry cushions and a bunch of bloggers and those eyelashes… 😉
I would love to have a knitting party like this. Or go to one at our local West Rlm in Palo Alto, CA.
Please send more info. On how to go about setting one up using We Are Knitters. Thanks! Patricia Hill, San Jose, CA
