how to-sday . quotable tea bag tags

January 25, 2011 separator DIY Tutorial

You guys already know that I’m pretty obsessed with tea. I downed a solid four cups of Earl Grey yesterday, and I’m sipping on another right now. If you ever want to send me a care package, I’m also partial to English breakfast tea ; ) . Anywho – I think that tea makes a lovely present, but I wanted to take it up a notch. Since I also really like quotes, I decided to combine the two into one pretty and easy little project, and I think it would go nicely with the bath salts I showed you last week. Put it together into a cute little Vee Day goodie bag for your girls!

*Edit: After putting the photos together, I realized that I’m also obsessed with all things peach today – tags, ring, and nail polish. Jump back…

Materials:
  • tea tag template (download)
  • scissors
  • tea bags
  • tape
  • decorative bag

download here!

1. Download the template using the above link. Print it in color on regular paper. Cardstock will probably be too heavy for this project.

2. Cut out each tag around the edges, leaving a small white border if you like.

3. Fold each tag in half, and crease it firmly with your fingernail or the side of a spoon.

4. Cut halfway across the fold. Do not cut all the way in half.

5. Slide the existing tea bag tag into the cut, tucking the old tag inside your new tag.

6. Attach the old tag inside with a small piece of tape.

7. Fold the new tag back closed, and then seal the bottom with a tiny little corner of clear tape. Alternately, you could staple the whole thing over the old tag.

8. Tuck a few tea bags into a pretty little bag, like this perfectly-sized little muslin drawstring pouch. Leave one tag hanging out for decoration. That’s it – you’re all done!!!

  1. I love this idea! This will be part of a gift for my tea obsessed friend, along with some teabag shaped cookies. (When I was printing it out though, I did notice there was a typing error on the quote from Mother Teresa.)

  2. Very cute!
I just started a linky party this past Tuesday. It was a great success with over 50 link ups! I would love it if you would participate next week! It’s called $10 Tuesdays and it’s for things that cost less than $10 and take 20-30 mins (ish) to complete. I love inexpensive and quick projects and I’m guessing others will too 😉 Thanks so much for considering.
