1. I love to create something beautiful – and occasionally practical – from a big pile of chaos. Or a semi-organized box of chaos, as the case may be.
Are you wondering what the ‘Nice to Meet You’ linky party is yet? Well, it’s party one of my very busy Friday, and it’s a collaboration with a super-creative group of ladies I ‘met’ at one of the Alt Summit classes I told you about. We decided to try to introduce our readers to the whole group and get everybody together for some blog hopping. First, I’m going to show you six pictures of how I love to spend my time at home. When you get to the end, I’ll tell you how to share your own blog!
2. I love love love decorating our home. Yeah – it’s only a rental, but it’s ours. It’s not a dorm room, and it has no expiration date, so I’m making it as ‘ours’ as I possibly can. In this post I have a step-by-step tutorial to teach you how to make your own frame collage faux headboard.
3. Even though ‘home’ only has a tiny little kitchen, I love to cook. I’m vegetarian, and Andrei’s not, but he’s a ridiculously good sport/guinea pig for all my favorite recipes. This is my favorite cookbook, and this is the tutorial for the picture above to make your own vanilla extract. You should start now to have them ready in time for wonderful holiday gifts. Get your free labels to print right here.
4. I love putting all my junk and various and sundry neat things together to make gifts for the most important people in my life. This monogram necklace was for my bestie. Yeah – I said ‘bestie.’ Wanna make one? Check out the full tutorial.
5. I’m cheating on this one. I’m gonna call ‘home’ anywhere in town. ‘Town’ being Lexington, Kentucky, in case you wondering/hadn’t finished stalking me yet. I love exploring where we live, and I really love picnics. Picnics are really just another name for a good excuse to consume a bunch of wine, cheese, and bread and hang out with wonderful company under the clouds.
6. I saved the best for last. The best part of ‘home?’ This guy. Even though the left side of his head has dissolved into the sky. I love him enough to get past the missing 1/3 of his head. ;D Andrei is home, no matter where home is. He’s my favorite part of everything.

Hi Lindsay! I love the gallery wall above your bed! The monogram necklace you made is super cute too! Great gift idea!
I just love that headboard. So gorgeous!
I’ve been following you for a while and it’s nice to meet you! I’d love to swap recipes with you. With a full garden any recipe that calls for only vegetables is worth trying.
Your Venn diagrams are beautiful. 😉
great post! i love the collage headboard you created… i think i may have enough prints to do something like that in my home! reading your post makes me want to get a little more DIY with my projects… even though they usually end in disaster, haha.
Doooo it! And send me pictures! The more you diy, the less likely it is to end in disaster. lol
You two are adorable! It’s nice of you not to mind that Andrei only has part of a head. Okay, and I’m so close to clicking on your vanilla extract recipe, but do I want to start thinking about Christmas now? Maybe.
No, you don’t want to be thinking about Christmas now, but by the time it actually rolls around, you’ll be glad you did! lol
You did a great job curating that wall! I’m a vegetarian as well, so I appreciate that cookbook suggestion.
Thanks, Ashley! I have a couple Moosewood cookbooks, and I really do use them all the time. The one I linked it their healthier version.
I’ve seen many of your posts before through Pinterest, etc. but didn’t become a follower until this link up. I’m so glad I did-your blog is awesome!
I’m so glad you’ve decided to officially follow, BreAnna – glad to have you as a reader! 😀
Beautiful pictures, Lindsay. I especially loved the box of colorful beads – it made me want to go make something pretty!
You should make something this weekend, Haeley! 😀
Great post Lindsay, I love your images! This is so fun getting to know each other better!!
Definitely a fun idea – thanks for spearheading the effort!
I love your thoughts on home, and you definitely have a lovely one. I’m especially fond of your “headboard.”
Thanks so much, Rachel! I can’t even imagine how crazy I’m gonna go when I actually own a home!!
Fun fun! Your bedroom is beautiful! Your list has a lot of similarities to mine!
Thanks so much, Suzannah – I just checked yours out, and yeah – so much similarity. It’s too bad we don’t live closer – we could do some serious decorating damage!
Love that gallery wall – I’m just about to hang some art in my flat for the first time… and we’ve lived there for three years! You are a lot braver than me with a hammer and nails 🙂 The photos in this post are beautiful too – did you use a special photo-editing/filter programme or do you just have ninja skills in Photoshop?!
Helen – I’m sure your art will be gorgeous!
I use Photoshop actions to get the effects on my images. You can get a couple of them for free here: https://www.shrimpsaladcircus.com/2012/08/free-photoshop-actions-with-video.html
You live so close(We live in cincy) and I love your blog. I dont know how you do it, but your home is beautiful! I will be joining this linkup, this weekend!

Tabetha, so glad to have you involved! We’re thinking it’ll be every two weeks.
Such a fun idea, I just linked up!
Thanks for linking up, Debbie!
That headboard is gorgeous! Looks like we have some things in common: I am currently making a rental into a cozy home, and I think it’s a fun challenge. I am also a vegetarian living with a meat-eater – only you’re far luckier, my meat-and-potatoes fella doesn’t like to try my dishes, even though I KNOW I’m a great cook!
I definitely am lucky in that respect, Lauren. He’s a great dietary compromiser! lol
We only get the meat for his cookouts and whatnot from a local place that we know where the food comes from.
Beautiful post, I really love the feel of your blog. I am going to spend the next few weeks going through your photoshop tutorials. I need to progress from Instagram!
Thanks so much, Eva! I’ve taught myself everything very slowly over the last few years, but it’s starting to pay off, I think!
