So, I know I already went off the grid for awhile this year, but I’m probably about to do it again. Why, you ask? Well, we’re MOVING! That’s right, Andrei, Mish, Rosco, and I are packing up our miniscule abode and moving to Washington, DC. I’m really, really excited but more overwhelmed by the moment as packing and shuttling our cats and chaos looms nearer.
Do any of you guys live in DC? I’d love advice on things to do and places to go when we move!
- This is gonna come in handy later this month.
- This is amazing. And not just for the mini human people.
- Airy, modern, and absolutely gorgeous.
- Crafty chemistry!
- I love the idea of using fresh ones.
- I want to throw a picnic just to use these.
- Advice we should all heed.
- I’ve been spelling ‘knick knacks’ wrong for a very long time…
- Apparently this is my sciency roundup (geology, yo).
- So many knob, paint, and stain possibilities.
- Might have to try this when we move.
- Yes, please!
- This is totally the calligraphy of 2014. And I want in.

Thanks, Cassandre – tweeting you today!
Moving can be a tad frightening but exciting at the same time! The best part is looking for new furniture or decoration ideas, like you’ve done! I’m moving at the end of summer and Pinterest has been super helpful for getting all my ideas in one place.
Good luck with your move!

congrats on the upcoming move – and thanks so much for checking out the Blog Basics class! and I’m with Sarah S., you should definitely get to a Topaz + Arrow workshop 🙂 it’s another one of my projects and we’d love to have you!
I’m so bummed – the June class filled up! But I just bought my ticket for July! 😀
Welcome to the party. I’ve lived in DC since 1990 (and behind the National Zoo since 1997, I can hear the lions roaring). Kenilworth Gardens are awesome, I also recommend the National Aboretum. You would also probably like the Crafty Bastards fair. http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/craftybastards/ and the Handihour http://americanart.si.edu/multimedia/video/handihour/
Thanks for the suggestions, Kim! I just visited the Arboretum and absolutely loved it!!!
Eat at White Tiger and Clarendon has some great little restaurants as well!
Congrats! I’m a long time DC resident and I love it here! You might be here in time for the lotus & waterlily festival at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens: http://www.nps.gov/keaq/index.htm, kind of a schlep but totally worth it. Even if you miss the festival the waterlilies will be in bloom and they’re GORGEOUS. I’m particularly fond of the one grown from an 800+ year old seed.
The Source Festival and the DC Fringe Festival are great if you like emerging theater.
L’Enfant Cafe has my favorite brunch (although I go Sundays to avoid the chaos of their Saturday brunch events): http://www.lenfantcafe.com/
Topaz + Arrow offers some neat weekend art classes: http://topazandarrow.com/calendar
Thanks, Sarah! I just signed up for the July T+A class and will check out L’Enfant!
