Can you believe we’re already practically halfway through June?
That means it’s time to start thinking about summer festivities, which of course means Fourth of July crafts!
These little firecracker magnets are an easy DIY that would also make adorable party favors or place settings.
Supplies
You can get most of these supplies at your local dollar store. But if you want to make a bunch or prefer online shopping, you can find them all on Amazon via the links below. These are affiliate links, so you won’t pay anything extra, but I can earn a small commission that helps me keep this blog up and running, so thanks!
- Patriotic paper straws
- Blue baker’s twine
- Metallic star garland
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Scissors
- Small magnets
Instructions
1. Take five straws per magnet, and snip off about 1/4 of each straw, leaving 3/4.
Tip: Save the short pieces to make a cute garland!
2. Carefully glue the straws together by using one as the “middle” and gluing the others together around it. When you’re finished, it should be flat on one side. This will be the back.
3. Take the piece of string and tie it around the middle a few times ending with a knot in the front with a little bit of the string hanging.
4. To make the wick, cut a small piece, about 1”, from the garland. It’s wire, so be careful. Take any dangling strings and stars off it. Glue it to the inside of the middle straw. Use a star from the garland to glue to the top of the wick.
5. Glue the magnet to the back of the finished firecracker where the string is. This will also secure the string.
