The Anatomy of a Perfect Cheese Board

Cheese Platter Ideas

Are you, by any chance, as obsessed with cheese as I am? A beautiful cheese board is the perfect way to put together an impressive spread when you’re entertaining, and it doesn’t have to be difficult to create!

Cheese Platter Ideas

The most important thing to consider when you’re pulling together the ingredients for a perfect cheese tray is variety. You want to incorporate different flavors: salty, sweet; textures: crunch, soft, chewy, crumbly; and even colors! Think of the bright jewel tones of grapes, berries, and ripe pears against the muted yellows and creams of the cheese.

I’ve also pulled together a few beautiful examples herehere, and here to provide some additional inspiration. Browse around; check out the photos and “recipe” I’ve included below; and you’ll be adding your own cheese platter ideas by the time the holidays roll around!

The Perfect Cheese Board
Recipe Type: Appetizer
Author: Shrimp Salad Circus
Prep time:
Total time:
Serves: 8
Ingredients
  • 1-2 soft cheeses, like brie, goat, or muenster
  • 1-2 semi-hard cheeses, like cheddar, edam, or provolone
  • 1-2 hard cheeses, like asiago, romano, or a smoked gouda
  • Soft savory snack, like dried fruit
  • Crunchy savory snack, like salted nuts
  • Soft sweet snack, like honeycomb
  • Crunchy sweet snack, like fresh fruit
  • Breads and crackers
Instructions
  1. Arrange cheeses in various locations on a cheese board, platter, or several boards, spacing them out evenly.
  2. Add snacking elements in between and around cheeses, keeping them categorized by flavor profiles. For example, sweet snacks and fruits would go well near a brie or goat, while savory snacks like salted almonds would go well alongside an aged asiago or cheddar.
  3. Drizzle honey over an appropriate cheese, such as a chevre, and top it with honeycomb and/or sliced almonds.
  4. Place cheese knives and spreaders near the necessary cheeses, and fill edges and gaps with baguette slices, crackers, or full bread rolls.
  5. Finish everything off by labeling each cheese with a name and possibly a description of the cheese’s various flavors.

  1. . If they have screw holes, don’t use them, I’m sure of it. Additionally, avoid soldering components to the PCB and then spring-clipping the package to the heatsink basket random.
